Tweed coat, sloppy oversized coat made of Kent wool, asymmetric collar, side seam pockets

This "oversize" style coat may fit people from a UK size 8 (84 cm bust) up to about a UK size 20 (110 cm bust).

The colour of the tweed is approximately that in the 5th and 7th photos.

The size is versatile and so is wool as it can keep the chill out on a breezy spring day or cool summer evening without making you too warm, keep you snug on an autumn walk or add a thick jumper underneath this very generously cut coat to keep out the cold when the temperature goes below zero.

The cut looks straight, but it has subtle shaping for the body of the coat, armholes and sleeves. It is modelled here on a UK size 8 (84 cm bust) dress stand but will fit larger sizes as it is intended to fit sizes up to about a 110 cm bust/chest - see measurements written out below and in last photo.

It has an asymmetric collar, and a concealed pocket in each side seam.

This coat is hand sewn from an original pattern by Anne Fontenoy and is made from 100% wool (approximately 500 gsm) grown by Kent farmers, from the indigenous Romney sheep. It is lined with dark brown 100% Viscose from an English supplier (105 glm - grams per linear metre) with "oversized" hand covered buttons. 38 mm diameter metal buttons measuring about 40 mm diameter when covered with the wool. There are button loops made of off white cord.

Approximate measurements
Bust/chest 64 cm x 2 = 128 cm all around
hem width 49 cm x 2 = 98 cm all around
length from centre back = 89 cm
length from side of neck at back, to hem = 93 cm
sleeve: side of neck, along shoulder, down arm to wrist = 73 cm
armhole 29 cm x 2 = 58 cm all around
wrist 17 cm x 2 = 34 cm all around
collar about 8 cm deep

The last photo is of a sketch which shows most of the approximate measurements of the coat.

There is just one coat in stock.

If you would like small swatches of the wool and lining to look at before considering a purchase, please send me a convo and I will create a special order for you, no charge for the swatches or 2nd class postage.

I can also make this coat to order, from the same, similar or other pure wool fabrics. Send a message for details.

    Are your products sustainable?

I print the cards myself onto a 190 gsm sustainable English watercolour paper which is lightly textured, acid free and archival with the surface prepared for digital print on both sides. So if you want a custom greeting inside the cards, which are normally blank inside, then it may be possible for me to print some text inside. The cards are packed in compostable clear corn starch bags. Prints are on sustainable digital fine art papers. I specialise in using silk and natural fibres to hand sew scarves, bags and accessories. Many materials I use are made of natural, organic and recycled fibres, sewing everything by hand which reduces my power consumption, and upcycling old dresses, I often re-use packaging to send you your orders.
